Supermarket chains needed to reduce energy consumption across their sites to meet environmental goals and lower emissions. They needed technology that improved kitchen ventilation efficiency and cut fan energy use. Installing new technology often means high upfront costs and long payback periods. Cheetah integrates with existing EC fans or inverter drives, making it cost-effective with payback under two years.

The Challenge

Supermarket retail kitchens operate in fast-paced environments. Energy consumption is high. Fans consume large amounts of electricity, often running at full capacity regardless of cooking activity. This wastes energy, increases emissions, drives up maintenance costs and creates inefficiencies. Without demand-controlled ventilation, supermarkets face higher operational costs across their estates.

The Solution

Cheetah was installed in supermarket retail kitchens. The system integrates with existing fans and adjusts speeds based on cooking activity. Within one month, the data looked promising - saving more than initially projected and improving payback to one year. We continuously optimise the system remotely, working with chefs and maintenance teams to maximise performance.

The Results

Average fan energy reduction: 69.5%. Annual savings per site: 26,000 kWh, 5,800 kg CO₂, and £6,500. Payback: 1 year. Following these results, we've installed Cheetah in major UK supermarket retail brands including Tesco, Asda, and Sainsbury's.
